From Lil' Minecrafters to Minecraft Makershop: Empowering Kids to Make and Create With Architecture and Design

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Minecraft has found its way into millions of young hands around the globe. While many choose to play and survive, others choose to build and create. You can easily find designs of the Eiffel Tower, the Globe Theatre, or even the Great Wall of China online. Minecraft lends itself easily to architecture and design theory where kids can learn how colors, shapes, depth, and textures come together to create amazing things. You'll learn how students as young as kindergarten all the way through middle school can use Minecraft to learn about these skills. Discover samples of these final projects, and see how students can change and grow throughout the unit. Many students go from uncertainty and no skills to thoughtful designs and leaders in design and architecture skills. You'll even leave with templates and lessons to empower students in K-2, 3rd-5th, and 6th-9th grades!
