Welcome to The Science Cafe! Enhancing Presentation Literacy Using infographics

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

The Science Café concept emphasizes the importance of celebrating and sharing scientific research with the general public. Students become research scientists as they develop an original research question and present their findings at the Science Cafe using infographic posters. As a result, the learning experience builds and enhances the development of students’ literacy skills in the areas of research and communication. Angela Boubouheropoulos (GRT), Cindy Kube (CT), and Lee Cooper (ITS) [Salem High School, VBCPS] developed a performance task, rubric, and corresponding ancillary materials in order to have Biology students take on the role of research scientists in presenting their research on the connection between biochemistry and cells using infographics.
